Back to the Future Day! – October 21, 2015
The day the world had anticipated for 26 years finally arrived, and the internet exploded. Everyone, it seemed, got in the action of celebrating Back to the Future Day, from car manufacturers like Ford and Toyota, to Pepsi, Nike, individuals and more. It was a wild and wonderful day full of spectacular online entertainment, so ICYMI, we have gathered some of our favorite highlights below.
Ford announced the Flux Capacitor accessory package for the Fiesta and the Focus.
From the post:
“Add an element of excitement to any trip by upgrading your Ford with the available class-exclusive Flux Capacitor.
Securely installed in a stylish enclosure on the center console and powered by 1.21 gigawatts, the Flux Capacitor literally makes time travel possible. Please time travel with care, keeping in mind that different historical epochs will present unique challenges based on the cultural and technological limitations of the era.
Available starting October 21, 2015, the flux capacitor will allow you to have the time of your life…as you travel through time. [Obviously, this upgrade is not actually available. Happy #BTTF2015!]”
Toyota announced and entirely new car, the Mirai, that actually runs on trash, and the short introducing it is simply genius!
“Watch the future become reality as two Back to the Future icons see trash get turned into fuel for a car! Discover more athttp://www.toyota.com/FBE #BTTF”

The cheering lasted minutes ad Doc Brown and Marty McFly drove onto Jimmy Kimmel in the DeLorean.
Pepsi released Pepsi Perfect, although there was a spectacular mistake with availability.
Pepsi ended up releasing online sales early, too many fans disappointment, but Comicon fans who showed up dressed as Marty McFly got to score one for free.
Even the Michigan State Police had their fun.
Micheal J. Fox got arrested…….
And finally, the Hoverboard. Lexus gave us one, and now in 2015, we actually have three!
This one, the Hendo, is Tony Hawk-endorsed, and he’s involved in future development.
Doc Brown also gave us some sage words about the future.
Well, however you celebrated Back to the Future Day, it was definitely a day to remember, and now, the day we looked forward to for 26 years is now in the past. Makes me feel more than a little nostalgic, but in a fun, “smile as I remember the past” kind of way. It’s amazing the impact these movies have had, and that we are still looking to them for inspiration and innovation. The future is here.
